1100

Grade Summary
This grade is commercially pure aluminum. It is soft and ductile with excellent workability. Ideal for applications involving intricate forming because it work hardens more slowly than other alloys. It has the highest thermal conductivity of any aluminum alloy and its electrical conductivity is second only to the electrical conductor grade.

Typical Applications
Kitchenware, Giftware, Decorative trim, intricate formed parts, Chemical and food processing industry parts.

2024

Grade Summary
This is one of the best known of high strength aluminum alloys. With excellent strength and fatigue resistance it is used to advantage on structures and parts where a good strength-to-weight ratio is desired. It can be subsequently hardened by artificial aging.

3003

Grade Summary
This is the most widely used of all aluminum alloys. It is essentially commercially pure aluminum with the addition of  manganese, which increases the strength some 20% over 1100. Thus, it has all the excellent characteristics of 1100 with higher strength. It has excellent corrosion resistance and workability, and it may be deep drawn or spun; welded, or brazed. This alloy is non-heat treatable.

5052

Grade Summary
This is the highest strength alloy of the more common non-heat treatable grades. Fatigue strength is higher than most aluminum alloys. In addition, this grade has particularly good resistance to marine atmosphere and salt water corrosion. It has excellent workability. It may be drawn or formed into intricate shapes, and its slightly greater strength in the annealed condition minimizes tearing that occurs in 1 100 or 3003. The resistance welding characteristics are equal to those of 11 00 and 3003. It has excellent finishing characteristics, and anodic coatings are bright and clear.

5083

Grade Summary
Alloy 5083 aluminum plates have higher strength than 5052 plate and has exceptional thermal conductivity. In the tempered condition, it retains good formability due to excellent ductility. It is highly suitable for welding and can be hardened by cold work. Because Alloy 5083 exhibits excellent resistance to general corrosion, it is used in marine applications. Since Alloy 5083 is capable of withstanding extremely low temperatures without brittleness or loss of properties, it is especially suited to the cryogenic market.

Grade Summary
This is the most versatile of the heat treatable aluminum alloys. This alloy offers a wide range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. It is easily fabricated and has good formability. It is weld-able using all methods including furnace brazing. Typical Applications Screw machine parts, Truck bodies and frames, Running boards, Steps, Floors, Walkways, Platforms, Cover plates, Trench covers, Truck runways, Almost any structural component.

Grade Summary
This is the most versatile of the heat treatable aluminum alloys. This alloy offers a wide range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. It is easily fabricated and has good formability. It is weld-able using all methods including furnace brazing.

Grade Summary
This is one of the highest strength aluminum alloys available. Its strength-to-weight ratio is excellent. It is ideally suited for highly stressed aircraft parts.

Used mostly in aircraft and transportation industries where strength is critical. Can be used as mold material for the plastics industry.
